#5 of my 365 Layout Challenge 2019 - THANK YOU CARD

Hey guys,

Today I decided to make a Thank You card for my Mother-in-Law.  This is only my 3rd card I've ever made and cards are not as simple as they may seem.  This one however, was...so yeah me!

I started off with a White pre-scored greeting card that folded horizontally.  I have this awesome stencil by PinkandMain.  It is truly one of my favorites and made extremely well as in it won't rip when you are using it or cleaning it!

I have this ink pad that I had gotten from a mystery bag and wasn't really fond of it.  It's called Kaleidacolor and they are all small strips of ink pads all in one container, seemed a bit hard to work with....until today!  My mind had a vision of different color pinks and purples for these hearts and this one ink pad had all of those colors (BERRY BLAZE).  It worked perfectly for what I wanted to do.  I did see it for sale at Hobby Lobby.

So I began to stencil it using my Tim Holtz Ink Blending Tool.  Again, looking at this card it may seem super simple but using stencils is a bit tricky, at least for me.  You have to remember where your hands/fingers are at all times because you are sure to get ink on them and you don't want to transfer that ink on to the card that you are about 90% done with (that would be lesson #1).

Here comes lesson #2...The other thing you have to get right when stenciling is the placement.  Depending on how you want the stencil to go (think, horizontally, diagonally, vertical, random), it doesn't matter, what matters is that if you don't place the stencil correctly the second time (when I say second I mean once you've done one area, you lift the stencil to go to another area), this has to be precise or it will look all wonky. I've had to start over several times when using stencils just for that reason alone!🤦🏻‍♀️  I'm sure once I start using them more I will get the hang of it.

After I finished stenciling in the hearts I got out my Cricut and cut out several THANK YOU's.  I did this to give it some depth by glueing them all on top of each other.  When using this method be sure to use scrap or paper that may not be as expensive as the top layer that you will see (money saver)!

So here comes lesson #3 for this layout...my Cricut didn't seem to like the black paper I was using (wasn't a heavy weight paper).  When I was cutting it, it didn't cut very well.   It had some little tears on the edges even after I tried to re-cut the same thing happened.   I decided to improvise and used my silver glitter pen to put dots on the THANK YOU in order to cover those small tears up.  I think it gave it a cute look and made it work so I could use the card.  So lesson #3 is, you can always cover mistakes....ESPECIALLY if you are 90% done with your project and don't want to waste the money on all of your scrapbooking supplies just to start over!

Well there you have it, #5 of my 365 day layout challenge that I'm doing.  I hope you liked it and thanks for following me on this challenge.  I will always try to link up to the items I've used so that if you like something you can find it!
