Breast Cancer Awareness - Fight Together

Hi guys, I'm up on the Blogger with a card to show support for Breast Cancer Awareness for the month of October.

I think every month should be Breast Cancer Awareness month with how rampit BC has become.  Statistics from Google show that in 2025, it is estimated that 321,910 women and 2,670 men will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in the U.S., with approximately 42,140 deaths expected from the disease, compared to about 232,340 women diagnosed in 2015...that's almost 100,000 more people affected by this disease!  Breast cancer remains the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in the U.S.

My family and friends have been affected by this cancer so it is near and dear to my heart, but honestly you would be hard pressed to find someone who isn't either directly effected by it, a family member with it or a friend with it.

My mom has had BC three times and my younger sister has had it once...in her 40's! Seven of my cousins have/had it, a family friend was diagnosed in her late 20's and it metastasized in 5 years and she has been in an experimental program for over 5 years because there was nothing else they could do for her.

Another close family friend also had stage 4 BC, fought it just for it to come back and metastasized 6 years later.  She was lucky and found a brand new drug just approved by the FDA and is now "all clear"...but for how long?  This has really gotten out of hand.  The hopeful news is that less women are dying from it.  I'm not sure if it is due to more awareness or new drugs coming to market.

In support of BC Awareness month I am doing an Instagram Hop with this FIGHT TOGETHER card.

I started out by searching Pinterest and found this amazing woman with her fist held high,  fighting against this disease.  I printed her out (I would give credit to the artist but I couldn't find it) and fussy cut her.

I set her aside and reached into my stash of COLORPLAY BC collection of papers and grabbed 3 different papers that blended well together. I layered them on an A2 base card so they were a bit staggered.  I used a piece of scrap from that collection I had torn and loved the look.

I used a Brass and Bliss scalloped frame die and made a shaker out of it and included these tiny hearts I had in my stash for ever and they were perfect for this card!

After putting it altogether I adhered here to the left lower side so the shaker was still showing through.  I think she makes a badass BC worrier with her pink outfit!  I also reached back into my COLORPLAY BC collection and found the FIGHT TOGETHER ephemera piece that tied it altogether.

Let me know if you or someone you know has been effected by this horrible disease...if you are I am sorry and I hope and pray the outcome is a good one.

Thanks for hanging out with me today and don't forget to have those ta-ta's checked ladies (and gents)

Stay crafty!

Kimberly
