Hey guys, thanks so much for stopping by my blogger today!  I have a PinkFresh Studio layout that I'm excited to share with you.  Every month they have a Challenge up on their website/blog and this month for July it's all about butterflies and a certain color pallet.  So I'm going to show you what I came up with and used from their collections and a few others that aren't PFS (their rules say you don't have to use everything PFS, but most of it was)!

I started with this picture of my long time very good friend who has been through so much in her life and now she has been diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer🎗  She is a fighter for sure and this picture is her last day of the hell of chemo that she went through and she got an all clear from the doctors!  They gave her a plaque and she got to ring that bell🙌

I wanted to do a layout of this very special moment for her and frame it and send it to her.  I thought the butterflies were a great symbol for this special moment, like a re-birth of a moth to a butterfly...her life is starting over in a new direction.

I started off with PFS paper collect from MY FAVORITE STORY called - PLANT KINDNESS and wanted to make it pop with a bright yellow around the edges so I added SIMPLE STORIES COLOR VIBE in Yellow.  I was going to use some bigger butterflies from Anna Giffin and use a smaller picture but I decided that didn't work for me.  I wanted the focus on her and not the butterflies so I used a punch from my stash that punched out very small butterflies that were perfect!

I am loving these PFS wood scent stickers from their OFFICE HOURS COLLECTION and the "YOU GOT THIS" was just perfect for this layout!  I also fell in love with the PFS - YOU ARE STRONGER paper from their LET'S STAY HOME collection.  The words are so beautiful and the color is gorgeous as well.   I used a die cut frame I had and cut both the paper and the plain border around it. I reached deep into my stash to find the bouquet of flowers from Jen Hadfield to place in the middle of it.

The "TODAY'S STORY" is a cut-a-part from PFS collection NOTEWORTHY called BE CURIOUS.  I added a sticker to it from a THE PAPER STUDIO Butterly kit a bought from Hobby Lobby...the color was spot on!  The Breast Cancer Awareness Ribbon I cut from a die cut I got from one of my favorite shops CAS-ual Fridays Stamps.  I used PFS paper, SUPER COOL collection called CHOIR and backed it with the same plain green paper I had in my stash.  I added a brad to the middle of it from FSJ/SPELLBINDERS.  The rest of the ephemera came from PFS as well as the circle chipboard flairs that I absolutely love!  The title YOU DID IT is PFS tiny puffy alphas I purchased from PIECE CRAFT LOVE, one of my new favorite shops! I mixed from 2 different collections NOTEWORTHY and DAYS OF SPLENDOR.  I finished it off with the tiny green and yellow butterflies and some stickers from the THE PAPER STUDIO kit.

I hope she likes how this turned out.  I think the colors in this collection are perfect for a layout like this.  Please leave some comments below and let me know what you think.  Come follow me on YT and join our group over on MEWE, we would love to have you!

Thanks again for stopping by and make it a scrapy day!

Senior Picture 8 x 8 layout Book, #48 - 56 of the 365 scrapbook challenge and what lessons I learned with this layout

Hi Newbies,

I'm here working on an 8 x 8 album for my Nephew who is graduating from High School.  This album is so near and dear to my heart because he is Autistic and the struggles my sister had and still has with him are real!  So I wanted to make her a special album to remember his special day.

This album holds 20 pages so I thought I would do 10 pages for one blog and the remaining 10 for another blog just so it's not too overwhelming for anyone to read.

This album will be layouts #48 - 56  of my 365 page layout challenge for 2019!- and yes I do include cards and 8x8 albums as well as my usual 12 x 12 layouts as part of my layout challenge, and FILLER pages (something new I'm doing for this album since I only have 11 pictures) - -just saying😬

I will try to link all of the items used (and possibly where I bought them) just in case you decide you like any of it.  Since this entire album is an 8x8 album there aren't a lot of embellishments that I used.

After the first 8x8 album I did a couple of weeks ago, I lost my fear of doing them and kinda liked it.  I would NOT say they were easier, I mean you are trying to create an awesome layout with embellishments and stickers and stamps and sequence and heat embossing and...well you get it.  On the 8x8's you are very limited on space to create such an amazing layout, especially if the pictures are bigger than 4x6.

For this album I had to try something a little different.  Since the album itself holds 20 layouts, I only had 11 pictures that my sister had sent to me for his photo shoot.  So I had to come up with some filler pages.  Basically, a scrapbook layout without a photo.  I've never done one before so it was fun to do.

SO HERE THEY ARE:

Shine On - Layout #25 of the 365 scrapbook challenge and what lessons I learned with this layout

Hey Newbies,

I'm here working on number 25 of my 365 Page Layout Challenge 2019 (and the lessons I learn).  I will try to link up to where you can purchase the items I used just in case you see anything you might like to try!

This  was another Challenge from the UK Facebook group I'm in.  The challenge was pretty specific: a first of something (baby, first time...) triangles, stencil and an unusual way of journaling.

I started off with a bright pink 12x12 card stock background.  I also have a pad with some unusual papers in them and this lime green with yellow splatters worked like a charm with this layout!  So I cut an inch from each side and adhered it to the pink 12 x 12 background.
I backed all of the photos with a thin piece of foam!  I've never done that before but I have a small stash of super thin foam sheets in these bright colors of yellow, green, pinks and blues.  So here is LESSON #1, think outside the box.  Who would have thought to use foam as a border around a photo?  I ended up doing a blue, green and yellow on the photos to pull the colors out and make them pop.  I used some foam dots on them to adhere to the background to give a bit of dimension.

For the use of triangles, I cut 3 triangles using some of the yellow thin foam and added some bright pink puffy stickers from My Mind's Eye PALM BEACH COLLECTION. I also used a rubber chips banner from PinkFresh Studio 's Dream On collection underneath one of the photos to add more triangles (be it upside down, they are still triangles😬) and some pink and gold triangles sticker from Bella Blvd.
I added some other puffy stickers from Bella Blvd (the LOVE circle, the multi colored flag and the SHINE ON, which I used for my TITLE).  And here comes LESSON #2 for this layout, you don't have to always use alphas for your title.  This puffy sticker worked great!  I've also used Stamps, Project Life Cards, cards from pads, you get the idea.  I added a glitter beach ball sticker from the SPLASH FUN collection, a chipboard BIG SMILES sticker from American Crafts, and a SO MUCH FUN sticker from Bella Blvd's MAKE YOUR MARK collection.  The OH HAPPY DAY clear sticker is from The Paper Studio AGEND 52 (Hoppy Lobby), the CUTE AS A BUTTON clear sticker is from The Paper Studio's Children Phrases sticker pack (Hobby Lobby) and the rainbow is from The Hip Kit Club ephemera pack.  The BE YOU (yellow and pink sticker) is from Dear Lizzy and finally the LIFE IS SWEET flair is from SCRAPPIN HAPPY STUDIO.

I then did my stenciling.  I have this stencil I purchased from Amazon with different words on it.  I chose the BE HAPPY because she is so happy in that pool at that moment!  I used embossing glue on my stencil and then used my Wendy Vecchi embossing powder in BUTTERCUP and heated with my heat gun.  I did this on a separate piece of scrap paper in green and then used foam dots to secure it to my background.

For the unusual journaling I decided to use the same thin foam sheets I had and wait for it...put it in my BIG SHOT die cutting machine with a square die that had and framed it!   I then took some clear stickers ran them through the printer and stuck them onto the yellow square.  I glued the square to my backing and it worked great!

Well there you have it! Number 25 of my 365 layout challenge for 2019.  thanks for following along on my journey of 365 scrapbook page challenge that I am doing, and reading about the lessons I'm learning along the way!  If you liked the blog please subscribe and follow me.

Comment below to let me know what you think about the way I journaled.  Come along to see if I make my goal of 365 pages this year!

Thanks for stopping by,
Happy Scrapping🤗

Lessons on Layouts - Going from stash to Sas!

Hi there Newbies!  Today I wanted to blog about creating layouts using your stash (and...we are already at lesson 1). Lesson 1 being, when buying a kit, from say The Hip Kit Club, you get so excited when they arrive (or at least I do).   I mean the pages and embellishments match up so perfectly, you want to see it all!  So you take it all out of the package and  if that's what you want to do to see all of the goodies in their awesomeness of match-e-ness (here is where the lesson comes in) go for it!  Just make sure it's the only thing on your table when you do or, like me, you will be putting it ALL away after ogling it and then it will hit you.  The KIT you just purchased that matched so perfectly together is now all in separate bins/boxes/drawers and you have no idea what was what!  Yes, that is what I did with my very first Kit, key word being...KIT🤦🏻‍♀️

So let's move on from lesson one, shall we?  I have this beautiful grand daughter and she has my heart!  I have done a couple of layouts with her and want to share this one.  When I saw this picture that my daughter-in-law took I just knew right then in there I would be scraping it!  My mind started going crazy with ideas.
So now that I have this new stash (since I broke my one and only kit up, it's all stash). I went through every drawer, paper boxes, sequence bins, inks and stencils!  I usually only have a few things that a pull but everything I touched went with the colors in my head that I wanted to do for this layout.  The more I pulled the more that came out!  So I started with this huge pile of stickers, washi tape, embellishments, phrases, flairs...you name it I had it on the table!

I knew I wanted to use a stencil heart on this layout (and here comes lesson number 2); lesson 2 being, when buying stencils, stamps, inks and even paper...DON'T BE A CHEAP AS*!

I saw a YouTube video with Heatherscraftylife using this "Puffy Heart Stencil" from PinkandMain - side note:  I love her layouts! I have learned so much from her, she is definitely one of the scrapping ladies you need to be following - especially on YouTube if you want to learn a few things.

I went on line and saw the price of their heart stencil (which really wasn't that much) but had to order some stuff from Amazon and while on Amazon I saw an entire set of stencils including a similar heart stencil for half the price...an ENTIRE set! So I said to myself, self, this is an amazing deal go for it.  Well...that amazing deal turned out to be crap!  The stencils were cheap, one has already torn and trust me, the heart one was NOT the same!  Soooo, I went back and bought the PinkandMain heart stencil.  It worked beautifully!  The difference was night and day (although, I am a Newbie to using stencils...so it took me a couple of times to get it down...ok, a few times, stenciling is tricky ya'll).

On this particular layout I started out with stenciling going across the page, white space in the middle and then a row at the bottom.  It started out beautifully but went South pretty quick!  I thought I would add some heat embossing and stamped the embossing stamp all over the page (not using the stencil) which is NOT the way to emboss hearts people...it was a big fat mess (and kinda comical after I thought about it).  So I trashed it and started again (I told ya'll stenciling was tricky).

Starting from scratch, I decided to do a row of hearts diagonally this time, leaving white space in the middle and then a small diagonal row at the bottom.  I also did some going in a different direction at the top corner because that's just how I am.  That's the way a lot of layouts go, you have something in mind, start out and it ends up a little (or a lot) different than what you pictured it in your head.  But it ends up looking amazing!

After I had my background done I started pulling from my stash pile (or mountain of stash).  I knew I wanted to keep it mostly pink (because that jacket tho😱) and wanted a little bit of black to pull some of the color of her pants and boots but wanted a little color in it as well.

I started by backing the photo with some Pink Paislee 6 x 6 pad called TURN THE PAGE.  I found a pink background and a gorgeous flower pattern that had a bit of light teal in it.  I had so many embellishments with that color I knew it would be perfect!

I used some Dear Lizzy (61) Accent and Phrases stickers, the camera, heart and "captured" flairs are all from Scrappin Happy Studios (her Etsy shop is amazing)!  I had some clear stickers from The Paper Studio called CHILDREN PHRASES.  I love these phrases and used them on other layouts but  I didn't like the look of it on the page.  You could still see the clear square edges of the sticker so I had some cute pink polkadot washi tape in my stash that was see-through enough to cover up the sticker and still see it!

The title I fell in love with!  Not only was it perfect for this picture, I love the script of it and...it's kind of rubbery.  I've never come across it before but will be ordering more of it!  It's from American Crafters Thickers "SKYLER" pack.

I added a lot of other stickers and chipboards and other stuff I will list below in case you are interested in any of them.  I finished it up with some sequence from Ink Road Stamps (I love Lara's stamps!  She is always working on new lines and her stamps are very well made and worth the price - see lesson 2 above if you are thinking differently).

I hope you enjoyed seeing this layout and the lessons I learned from it.  For more tips, tricks and challenges come over to our facebook group (follow the link and ask to join, we keep it private because a lot of us are working on layouts as gifts and don't want the friends and family who follow us on FB to see them before we give them) or join us on IG to catch up!  And if you like the blog please follow me!
