Halloween Layout Featuring (new to the shop) Flair BUTTONS from Scrappin Happy Studio!

Hi Guys, Thanks for stopping by and checking out something brand NEW from Scrappin Happy Studio!  These cute Flair Buttons are super durable, cute as a (I'm going to say it) button, has a metal back to them, which means you can use any adhesive to adhere them to your layout, and they are brand NEW to her shop!

She sent me a pack, before she even has them in her shop, to try.  These Halloween themed (she will have other themes to choose from as well) are super cute and the colors are awesome for any Halloween themed layout.  There is even one that is versatile enough to use on a layout that isn't Halloween themed!

I was so excited to get them yesterday that I just had to do a layout.  Here is a picture of me and my mom on a Halloween that we decided at the last minute to dress up and go out so we spent the day trying to find last minute outfits.  I'm not sure what she was...kinda of a Phantom of the Opera meets dental man? I have no idea to this day😆 I chose a black cat and found leggings, a black top and a cat eyes mask and some black gloves.  It worked and we had so much fun that night with people trying to guess who we were.

Ok, so back to the layout.  It came together pretty quick with these Halloween themed buttons and one of her Halloween epoxy flairs.  As I'm sure you can tell by now (because I'm sure I told you before) I'm all about color!  I see color, pull all colors I think will match both in paper and embellishments and making sure everything matches the theme.  So with these buttons being Halloween colors and themed, it came together quick!

Everything I used is listed below.  Thanks again for stopping by and checking out these super cute and brand new to her shop...Flair Buttons!

Collections I used:
Scrappin Happy Studio - Epoxy flairs - Halloween Words
Scrappin Happy Studio -  Flair Buttons - Halloween
ms.  sparkle & Co - HALOWEEN TEXTURES 6x6 paper pad
American Crafts Thickers - SPOOKY glitter foam
K&Company - Dimensional Stickers (Halloween)
Echo Park Paper - SPOOKY  chipboard stickers

Leave comments below and let me know what you think about her new Flair Buttons.  Come follow me on IG (link on blog), and head over to Scrappin Happy Studio to see her newest collection of handmade epoxy flairs...she does a new collection about every 2 weeks!

Have a Scrappy Day😄

Featuring Scrappin Happy Studio "Covid" Epoxy Flairs

Hi guys,  I'm here putting together this cute layout featuring Scrappin Happy Studio Epoxy Flairs!

Showing off a Collection of her Covid-19 Flairs which were perfect for this layout, even though it wasn't a Covid-19 Layout!

Ok, first I'm going to say I love the versatility of her flairs! Even though she specifically made these for the Covid-19, I purchased them for this specific layout which has nothing to do with Covid-19.  A lot of her flairs you can mix and match to fit into layouts that may not be specifically for what she designed them for but works perfect for what you are laying out!

I started as I normally do with a ton of stuff pulled.  I should rename my site 'The Messy Scrapper' because I pull a LOT of stuff for my layouts!  I'm big on color and that's how I plan out my layouts. I choose a photo and pic a color or two and then start pulling from my stash anything that has those colors.  I also like to keep the theme the same (although I will go slightly off of theme if it really matches the colors and makes it pop)! I can tell you I always pull more than I use...you just never know what's going to work😀

I wanted to make this a multi-photo layout because the pics told the story.  I mounted each smaller picture to 2 separate papers (once card stock and one from a paper pad) and used the same papers for the 4x6 picture as well. I aligned the 3 smaller pictures like a photo strip and placed the larger photo to the right.

The title of Be Brave was perfect because the look on her mom's face was priceless! I added a journaling card that said "TOTAL BUMMER" from a back I got in a Traveling Box over on our FB group (feel free to join so you don't miss out on the fun)!  Those cards are snarky and I love them! They came in 2 different sizes and this one fit perfectly. I added some stickers, a wood veneer pencil and one of the epoxy flairs from Scrappin Happy Studio.  I adhered it at an angle and then added a flag/banner "FOR THE RECORD" to the last small photo and added the THERMOMETER flair at the bottom corner.  I added a cute chipboard sticker flower and the cut file (I had backed several months ago to go with another layout but it didn't work out so I kept it and bam! It worked amazingly well for this layout)!

I got these cute tiny stickers from our Traveling Box (really, these boxes are amazing so head over to our
FB page and sign up), and used them for a second mini title.  I used the check circle woodveener on the bottom of the photo along with a pencil sticker I backed with foam adhisive for some dimension.  At the top of the 4x6 photo I added a sticker (backing it with foam tape) FROM THE DESK OF: Doodles, MD.  I added another epoxy flair in the center on a square sticker.

Well there you have it, how I used Covid-19 flairs for a totally different layout. I hope you enjoyed this layout as much as I enjoyed creating it!  Thanks for stopping by and reading all about my BE BRAVE layout and see below for some of the items I used to put this together.

Epoxy Flairs: Scrappin Happy Studio (Medical Epoxy Flair Collection)

2019 Coffee Loving Papercrafters Blog Hop!

Hey guys, I'm hopping on here to show you a few cards I created this year for the 2019 Coffee Loving Papercrafter Fall/Winter Blog Hop!

I know I'm usually doing Scrapbooking layouts but if you think about it, card making and Scrapbooking crossover into each others worlds and what a wonderful world Amy Tsuruta has created with this group!

This is actually my Anniversary, yeap, exactly 1 year ago I found the Coffee Loving Papercrafters FB page (totally by accident, it was the Coffee that drew me in😬) and I crossed over to the "dark side" as they say.

Since last year I have only made a handful of cards, but it was nice to know that I had the know how and confidence to not only make them but send them out!  I mean, how intimidating is it to see all of those hundreds of cards in the store, knowing people pay good money for to send out, that look professional?  Pretty intimidating to me!  I never thought I would be able to make a card that I would actually send out...but I have and I'm super proud of how they turned out and the excitement of the person receiving it is a bonus!

I never really knew how really special, time consuming and the worth of a handmade item was until I started doing them.

As I said, this is my Second year doing this Blog Hop.  Last year I was so proud of my self (patting myself on my back😉) to enter 1 card, this year...I made 4!

If you want to join this fabulous community on FB click here (they always have codes for sales from amazing stamping and die companies throughout the year so make sure you take advantage of that!) (Please click here to see some of the amazing sponsors that were part of this hop and to see some amazing inspiration on card making)

Again, a big SHOUT OUT to Amy Tsuruta for sponsoring this amazing, super coffee loving blog hop again this year with all the amazing prizes and super sponsors!  To see all the stats from the inception of this amazing Hop to now (the numbers are amazing) click here! And just a side note, I actually won a prize from Hero Arts on this blog hop this year! It may have been chosen my Random.org but it was still a great feeling to win a prize during this fabulous hop...so another SHOUT OUT and Thank You to one of the super sponsors, Hero Arts for my prize!

Happy Scrapbooking (and card making!)

Senior Picture 8 x 8 layout Book, #57-67 of the 365 scrapbook challenge and what lessons I learned with this layout

Hi Newbies,
I'm here working on finishing the 8 x 8 album for my Nephew who is graduating from High School (for the first 9 pages please read through my blog).  This album is so near and dear to my heart because he is Autistic and the struggles my sister had and still has with him are real!  So I wanted to make her a special album to remember his special day.

This album holds 20 pages so I thought I would do 10 pages for one blog and the remaining 10 for another blog just so it's not too overwhelming for anyone to read.

This album will be layouts #57 - 67  of my 365 page layout challenge for 2019!- and yes I do include cards and 8x8 albums as well as my usual 12 x 12 layouts as part of my layout challenge, and FILLER pages (something new I'm doing for this album since I only have 11 pictures) - -just saying😬

I will try to link all of the items used (and possibly where I bought them) just in case you decide you like any of it.  Since this entire album is an 8x8 album there aren't a lot of embellishments that I used.

After the first 8x8 album I did a couple of weeks ago, I lost my fear of doing them and kinda liked it.  I would NOT say they were easier, I mean you are trying to create an awesome layout with embellishments and stickers and stamps and sequence and heat embossing and...well you get it. When you are doing the 8x8's you are very limited on space to create such an amazing layout, especially if the pictures are bigger than 4x6.

For this album I had to try something a little different.  Since the album itself holds 20 layouts, I only had 11 pictures that my sister had sent to me for his photo shoot.  So I had to come up with some filler pages.  Basically, a scrapbook layout without a photo.  I've never done one before so it was fun to do.

SO HERE THEY ARE:

(57) - TITLE: HIP HIP HOORAY
TITLE: "HIP HIP HOORAY"
PHOTO: I backed the photo with colored tissue paper to match the layout.
PAPER: card stock from paper pad purchased at Michael's
TITLE: USED THE STAMPS from my Ranger Letter It Clear Stamp set (CELEBRATION) I used scrap paper from my card stock and also used my SPELLBINDERS SWIRL HEMSTITCH SQUARES NESTABILITITES die to cut it and leave the dots around the edges of the paper to "frame" it.
EPOXY FLAIRS: From my favorite flair shop, SCRAPPIN HAPPY STUDIO, I used the 'TODAY' and 'SHOOT' flair inside the camera lens (and the camera itself came from that shop.  They include it on their packaging so I fussy cut it and used the camera and it worked beautifully for this layout!
GRADUATION STICKERS: They all came from the same collection from PAPER CRAFTS (Michael's)
CHIPBOARDS: The black chipboards (swirly design in upper right corner and the corner piece in lower left corner) were in the same package that I had gotten from a mystery bag I purchased.

(58) - TITLE: JAMES
TITLE: Bubble-A-Bilities (from Hobby Lobby) bubble alphas
PHOTO: Backed by scrap card stock used on one of the previous pages.  Die cut with my Wonky Frames
GRADUATION SAYINGS: The word "CONGRATS" and the "YOU DID IT!' came from EK Success, STICKO collection (Hobby Lobby)
GOLD BALLOONS: I cut the balloons with my Cricut machine out of gold foil paper from Michael's.  The "string" was done by using one of my fancy design scissors and the scrap from the gold foil paper (getting creative).

(59) - CONGRATULATIONS
TITLE: Stamped on to a banner I made with my banner punch using my Ranger Letter it stamp set, heat embossed with Ranger embossing powered in BUTTER CUP and then adhered to the background with brads (from old stash a friend gave me, a little tip for brads, if you don't want to make holes in your layout, the metal part twists off easily and I use a foam dot on the back to stick it down).
PHOTO: backed with a card cut from a page out of one of my HOT BUY pads from Michael's (don't miss out on those deals)!
CHIPBOARD STICKER: the word "DOCUMENTED" from American Crafts, Escape the Ordinary Collection.  I adhered it to a piece of the gold foil paper from Michael's and glued it to the background.
STICKER: The scroll sticker is from the Graduation pack by EK Success, Sticko Collection (Hobby Lobby).
CHIPBOARD STICKER: The black chipboard sticker was from a mystery bag that I purchased.

(60) - KIND & STRONG
TITLE: KIND & STRONG are cut from an amazing HOT BUY pad (that I wished I had gotten 2 of). I used my banner punch on both of them.  I also cut the flower border behind the word LOVE from the same pad.
POCKET CARD: This is from Becky Higgins Project Life (unfortunately they no longer carry this one).
PUZZLE PIECE: Die cut using my die from Stampin Up (it comes with the die and stamps in one set)
LOVE: This is actually a digital download that I fussy cut.
BIG HEART: I punched a heart out of a plastic overlay sheet of hearts from Acherryontop.com.  I've never used this type of "paper" before, a bit hard to punch through but I like the effect.
HEARTS: Punched from the heart EK Success punch I have (it punches in 4 different sizes...I LOVE it!

(61) - CELEBRATE
TITLE: "CELEBRATE" is from Jillibean Soup "Grey Sentiments" collection.
PHOTO: backed with grey stock card using the tear technique on the right side and the bottom.  I used a project life card to add to the bottom (barely sticking out) just to give it a little more pizzaz.
WORDS: From my Tim Holtz Small Talk collection sticker book from Hobby Lobby (I would buy stock in that place...if they sold it)!
EPOXY FLAIR: Is from Scrappin Happy Studio

(62) - WAY TO GO!
TITLE: WAY TO GO! was done using my Cricut machine 3 times and stacked them on top of each other just a little off to show color.
SQUARE SAYINGS: cut from a 12 x 12 sheet of paper I found at Joann's, backed by scrap paper I  cut to size.
BALLOONS: Made by using my Cricut machine and the string was made by cutting the foil paper with my fancy scissors.
BANNER: I used my banner punch from Michaels (this one cuts in 3 different sizes!  L-o-v-e it!
GOLD HEARTS: Used with my EK Success Heart punch.
ALPHAS: His name I used alpha stickers from Echo Park

(63) - MARVELOUS
TITLE: The word "Marvelous" (and the puzzle piece) is from an old (very old) sticker stash a friend gave to me.  I wish I knew where she got it because I love all of the words on it and it's kinda shinny.
PHOTO: backed with scrap paper (SAVE YOUR SCRAPES)!
EPHEMERA: The word 'Great' is from an Ephemera pack from PINKFRESH STUDIO
SWIRLLIES: (I think I just made that up) are cut from my Cricut

(64) - INSPIRE

TITLE: INSPIRE is from that same pack that the word MARVELOUS came from...I keep searching for it but no luck yet!
PHOTO: I backed it with card stock that I used the tear technique at the top and bottom.  It looked really good with this graph paper I cut from a 12 x 12 page from a pad I had.
EPHEMERA: Is from the Vicki Boutin gold accents label stickers
GOLD HEARTS: American Crafts' Goldie collection (Hobby Lobby)

(65) - BELIEVE
TITLE: The word "BELIEVE" the silver hearts and the banner that says Love This Life are from Paper House
PHOTO: I didn't back this photo because the paper I used to adhere it to was kinda awesome.  It was a scrap I flipped upside down to hide the colors that wouldn't work and it left me with this semi-framed page so I went with it! (I think we call that a lesson, used what you have however you can)
HEART: The black and white chipboard heart is something I got from a mystery bag (love those) so not sure where they are from.
PUFFY WORDS: Graduate is also from Paper House (Hobby Lobby)
BLACK DOTS: from Ms. Sparkle & Co (Joann's)

(66) - LIVE FOR THE MOMENT

TITLE: Ephemera pack from PinkFresh Studio
PHOTO: I backed the photo with a scrap (people save your scrapes!) to the right of it and used the tear technique down the one side (I really got carried away with this technique in this album).
STICKERS: All fo the graduation stickers came from the same pack I purchased from Hobby Lobby.
GOLD DOTS: These are actually from an alpha CONFETTI WISHES PHRASE THICKERS pack from PINK PAISLEE
GOLD WORDING: "SMART" is from a scrap paper in one of my HOT BUYS!  I really wish I had gotten 2 of them!
The "I DID IT" sign...he held that up himself!  HE DID IT!!!!🤗

(67) - GRADUATE

TITLE: The title and the other graduation stickers are all from the same pack I purchased from Hobby Lobby.
GOLD STARS: Came in a mystery box I purchased.  It was actually a tag filled with glitter and black and gold stars but I cut it open and used the stars for this layout.
OWL: I made the owl from my Owl punch and heat embossed him in gold.
GOLD STAR: was also from the tag that was filled with glitter and stars
EPOXY FLAIR: From Scrappin happy Studios
SHAKER "CARD": I made a Shaker "card" by stamping the sentiments from my Ranger Letter It clear stamp set on a piece of 12 x 12 I cut.  I added the glitter and sequence and then added vellum on top and glued all sides.  (here comes a LESSON), the glue didn't hold on the bottom so I had to get creative since all of the bits were falling out.  So I had a clear sticker with a sentiment and a swirly  on it that I wasn't using so I let the swirl (or scribble) show and hid the remaining sticker by adhering it to the back to keep the "card" together. That way it didn't show the sentiment and it kept the bits from falling out!  Win-Win situation😬
JOURNALING: I did the journaling using velum paper and adhered it with dots of clear glue and hid that by adding the gold dots from the Pink Paislee Alpha pack.

Well, there you have it...this album is officially complete and it brings me to page 68 of my 365 layout challenge for 2019. I am ahead so far (trying to stay a bit ahead so when I go to his graduation  I won't be behind when I get back).

Sweet Moment - Layout #24 of the 365 scrapbook challenge and what lessons I learned with this layout

Hey Newbies!

I'm here working on my 365 Page Layout Challenge.  I will try to list everything I used below and try to link up to where you can purchase them if you happen to like any of them.

Today I am working on a layout I call SWEET MOMENTS.  This one is especially close to my heart because it's a picture of me and my granddaughter reading "THE LITTLEST ANGEL", the exact book I saved that I use to read to her daddy when he was just about her age.

I'm not going to lie, this layout took me a while due to the colors I was mixing.  It looks like a simple layout but I wanted all of the colors to blend with the paper I used on the background so it was trial and error.

Which brings me to LESSON #1, if it doesn't work the first time or second time or third time, try, try again!  That particular blue/purple I was trying to pull from the lights of the tree was tricky.

I started out with the awesome periwinkle blue card stock I had.  I layered it with a 12x12 acetate sheet with words on it.  I saw it at Michael's and thought it would be different to use and I loved the way it looked.  It's from their Recollections collection called Signature Especial.

The wording was perfect and it really popped on top of the blue background.  I have never used this type of paper before...and here comes LESSON #2 for this layout.  Adhering acetate paper is tricky and I'm sure I didn't use the correct adhesive but when I stuck it down using my crafters tape you could see it.  Luckily, I was smart enough to just do a small amount on each of the 4 corners.  The top was an easy fix because of the border I put up there but the bottom, not so much.  So I had to cover the one corner with the trees...the other corner I couldn't find anything that looked right so, for this lesson..make sure you know your material before starting a layout.

After I glued down the paper I decided where I wanted my pictures and how I wanted to back them.   I found this awesome silvery, iridescent paper at Michael's.  It was beautiful and I wish I would have bought more of it.  I backed both of my photos with it and set them aside.  I wanted to pull a little red out of the Christmas tree in the photo so I used my Fancy Pants Glitter Cut Flurry of Hearts I had gotten from Scrapbooking-for-less.com It pulled out just enough of the red and the purple, so I just let enough peek through to add a splash of those colors.

I adhered the photos down, one straight on the background and the other with foam dots to give a dimensional look.  I added the word LOVE from Thickers Skyler collection.  The word "BELIEVE" I have had in my stash for a while and have no idea where I got it.  I also used the words "SWEET MOMENT" for the Title from Amy Tangerine.

The Title words are white foam so it took me a while to match the colors using Nuvo Mica Mists in  NEBULA BLUE and some of my Radiant Pearls in WILD ORCHID.  The colors matched perfectly so I did this with the angel border (that I made using white card stock and an embossing tool with an Angel playing a trumpet) at the top as well.  I also loved the color so much that I did the trees in the corner.  They came as plain wood veneer and this color worked out well.

I did some journaling on my computer and printed in out on clear labels and stuck it to the scrap of that awesome silver radiant paper I used to back the photos.  I also used it with one of my Spellbinders Nestabilities Scored and Pierced Squares Etched Die frames to make the cute frame at the top and added a sticker that says "YOU MAKE MY HEART SO HAPPY".

The remainder of that paper was punched into 2 circles where I put flairs on top to really make them pop.  I special ordered one of those flairs that says "OMA LOVE" (she calls me Oma).  I get most of my flairs from Scrappin Happy Studios who did this special order for me (I have a few more in different colors and different sayings).  So if you want to really make a special layout, don't hesitate to ask her for a special order!

I added a couple of more flairs, a black heart to pull some more of the black out, 2 small chipboard sticker hearts in red and a Christmas brad in red to pull some of the red out of the tree in the photo.
ITEMS USED:
  1. Epoxy flairs - OMA LOVE, CURRENTLY READING, TIME TO GET COZY AND READ Scrapping Happy Studio
  2. "Sweet Moments" foam writing - Amy Tangerine (love, love, love these.  They come white but you can color them any color you want to go with your layout!
  3. "This is my Story" puffy sticker - PinkFresh Studio
  4. Nuvo Mica Mist - NEBULA BLUE - Acherryontop.com
  5. "Remember This" sticker- American Craft Thickers- OneCanoetwo (Hazelwood collection)
  6. Silver iridescent paper - to back photo - Michael's
  7. Christmas Brad - Echo Park - ACherryontop.com
  8. Nestabilities Scored and Pierced Squares Etched Die - Scrapbook.com
  9. Acetate paper - Signature Especial - Michael's
  10. Fancy Pants flutter hearts - Scrapbooking-for-less.com
  11. "LOVE" - LOVE from Thickers Skyler collection

Well, there you have it...number 24 of my 365 layout challenge for 2019.  Thanks for following along on my journey of 365 scrapbook page challenge 2019 that I am doing, and reading about the lessons I'm learning along the way!

I look just like my mom - Layout #18 of the 365 scrapbook challenge and what lessons I learned with this layout

Hey Newbies,

I'm here working on number 18 of my 365 Page Layout Challenge 2019 (and the lessons I learned).  I will try to list everything I used below and try to link up to where you can purchase them if you happen to like any of them.

This layout I was so excited to do!  I ordered Nuvo Mousse from SPARKLE N SPRINKLE after watching one of their videos on what it was and how to use it and couldn't wait to try it!  I just received it in the mail and had to start a layout right away.
I choose this photo because I haven't done too many of my Daughter-in-law.  This photo is a side by side of her and my one and only grand daughter and boy to they look alike!  So I wanted to do a special layout for her.  This picture had some green that I wanted to pull out and focus on but I also wanted it to keep it real girly and use the PEONY pink and LEMON SORBET Nuvo Mousse that I had just gotten.
I started off with 12 x 12 White heavy card stock and the new mini blender brush and started by simply dipping the brush into the pot and going over the paper in a circler motion.  I didn't even use gesso on it.  This mousse is super light and so easy to work with!  I added each of the colors where I wanted them, adding more to make some areas darker and less on areas I wanted lighter.

I wasn't quite finished with the Mouse.  I had a stencil that I wanted to try with the LEMON SORBET.  This mousse is so versatile and it was so easy to use with my stencil.  I ended up using that as part of the backing as well just leaving enough to peak out of the bottom.

I have some Nuvo Mila Mist in FRESH PEAR and I have to say...this color is gorgeous!  I can't get enough of it!  It has a shimmer to it that I absolutely love so I ended up using it on the paper that I backed the photo to.  This paper already had some green on the top so I added quite a bit of the mist and let it run and got a super shimmer effect that was the perfect color!

I added a couple of epoxy flairs from Scrappin Happy Studios (this is a very special flair), the saying on it is something that my Daughter-in-law says to my grand daughter all of the time so I just had to use it and the heart one as well... those colors were perfect!

I had some scrap left over from my misting of the paper that I used to back the photo with and punched out hearts with my EK Heart Punch (purchased at Joann's).   This heart punch is awesome because it punches several different hearts, sizes and shapes at the same time.  I LOVE it!  I have used this punch a lot!

I laid them out around the photo and after deciding exactly where I wanted them I glued them down using my tacky glue.

I added some PinkFresh Studios ephemera as well, using the butterfly and the green leaves.  The puffy sticker is also from PinkFresh Studio. I also went into my One Canoe Two and used a couple of the sticker flags.  The most time consuming part about this entire layout was the little tiny flower and leaves sequence from PinkFresh Studio.  I just sprinkled them around and where ever they landed is were they were glued down and it turned out amazing!

Well, there you have it...number 18 of my 365 layout challenge for 2019.  Thanks for following along on my journey of 365 scrapbook page challenge that I am doing, and reading about the lessons I'm learning along the way!

Yeah I know I'm Trouble- Layout #12 of the 365 scrapbook challenge and what lessons I learned with this layout

Hey Newbies,

I'm here working on number 12 of my 365 Page Layout Challenge 2019.  I will try to list everything I used below and try to link up to where you can purchase them if you happen to like any of them.

Today I chose to do a pocket layout.  I don't do many of these and actually discovered them by mistake.  I picked up a box of 12 x 12 layout protectors that were on clearance at Walmart (SCORE!) or at least I thought it was a score...AND HERE COMES LESSON #1; always READ the fine print, or at least look at the picture on the box!🤦🏻‍♀️  I didn't discover they were pocket protectors until I got them home and who wants to run back to Walmart for under a $10 return?

I actually had to YOUTUBE how to use these and found a lot of layouts.  The one I liked the most was on Scrapbook.com (if you haven't been to their website lately they have a TON of FREE how to videos that are amazing!

I do like using these when I have multiple photo layouts, who am I kidding, 99.9% of my layouts are multiple photo layouts, but I still find using these brings a little bit of difference to your album so I mix a few in just to mix it up.

This one is of my son when he was about 3.  He was doing these cute faces and even back then I always had a camera snapping photos.

These pocket layouts are pretty easy and if you are brand new to scrapbooking it might be a good place to start.  But keep in mind, it's not just to stick a photo in and you are done.  Make it your own, get creative, make it a layout!

I added an Epoxy flair from my favorite Flair girl from Scrappin Happy Studios.  I backed my photos before putting them in with card stock and Becky Higgins Project Life cards.  With a "Hello" die cut, a mom, a heart and a few other stickers.  I also used my foam rubber alpha stamps  from Joann's to stamp out the words "LOOK AT ME".

On the Right side, the pockets are vertical so I took a couple of Project Life cards and backed them with a red card stock scrap from my stash to pull the red color in his pants and make the photo pop a little more. The little camera on those cards was perfect!

I added the chipboard ribbon "CHERRISH THE LITTLE THINGS" and I stamped 1993 (the year I took the photo) and added the "HI" at the bottom of the card.  The one below it, I stuck on a clear "YEAH I KNOW I'M TROUBLE..." sticker and a black sticker with sparkles on it that says "CUTE".

This layout took me less than a half hour to put together once I went through my stash and found what I wanted to use.

Day at the Beach - #10 on my 365 page layout challenge for 2019

Hey there Newbies,

I'm here working on my 365 Page Layout Challenge.  I will try to list everything I used below and try to link up to where you can purchase them if you happen to like any of them.

This layout started out awesome...in my head.

Starting out it was, well, kinda disastrous

                                 🤦🏻‍♀️

I LOVE the Ink Road Stamps collection SALTY AF!  The little mermaid is to die for and the sayings are awesome!  I had this vision of what it would look like but the beginning stages didn't look like what was in my head...at all!

I saw a YOUTUBE video (by NancyStamps) the other day and it showed some unique stuff you could do with Versamark.  I have several Versamark containers in my box of inks and stamps...AND here comes lesson #1 - Versamark makes more than just one kind of stamping pad as in for embossing, WHITE, etc, make sure you know which one you are suppose to be using BEFORE stamping your layout.  I pulled one out not paying attention to the word ULTIMATE WHITE PIGMENT on it.

The look I WAS going for was a watermark.  Which from what I hear, that is what Versamark was originally designed for.  So the technique was to put down the stamp with regular Versamark and eventually in an hour or so it would dry darker leaving a "watermark" effect on the paper.  After stamping the entire page I realized this was not going to get darker, but I kinda liked it so I went with it.

After I let it dry I started adding Glass Bead texture with a circle stencil I had.  It reminded me of bubbles and what better way to have a mermaid underwater than with bubbles!  But the more I did the less I liked.  It does take quite a while to dry so you can't be in  a hurry for this type of layout. It did take me several times of coming back and stenciling the glass beads only because my stencil was a 4x6 square and I didn't want it to look like a box of bubbles.

I left it over night to dry, mean while I pulled all my stash out and went through everything I thought I might want to use.  I fixated on this coral color and couldn't get enough of it!  I even painted the LOVE THIS words and the flamingo with a water marker to match.  I had a lot of this color in my stash so I was super excited!

After I let it set over night,  I started to work on my layout with the stash I pulled.  I put the photo at the top and backed it with parchment paper, a coral stock paper and a foam backing to make give it some dimension since most of the embellishments have dimension to them I didn't want the picture to look flat.   I also put a sticker on it with a beach saying (I've had that in my stash for a long time and have no idea where I got it, except that it was in Florida somewhere).

This was only the second time using the glass bead technique that I saw Missy Whidden do on her YouTube channel.  I'm not going to lie, it takes a bit to get this technique down but it is pretty awesome!  I'm still have issues working with it but I do love the effect!  This is my finished layout.  I hope you like it!  Please leave a comment below and let me know what you think.

Selfie Sunday Challenge - STOP, IT'S SELFIE TIME!

Hey guys, I hope your first week of the New Year has been good so far!  I know these last few weeks were tough to do any kind of scrapbooking or card making so now that the Holidays are over it's time to get those stamps, glitter and Shimmerz out and start your new challenges and layouts for the year!

Today I worked on a Selfie Sunday challenge that our Facebook Page, Scrapbooking For Newbies is having this week.  The challenge was for, well you guessed it...a selfie!  Why?  Because we are always scrapbooking others aren't we, but do we ever scrapbook just ourselves?

The Challenge was pretty simple, a selfie, using any type of layout (mixed media, paints, shimmerz, stickers, embellishments...what ever get's your creative juices flowing and then using the title STOP, IT'S SELFIE TIME! (ok, might be showing my age using a throwback title to It's Hammer Time).

I took this selfie when we were at Panama City Beach this summer.  Everyone else was out to breakfast and I stayed behind, had a coffee and headed out to the balcony...it was an amazing view!  But before I got to the balcony I snapped this photo in front of the huge wall to wall mirror (that I may or may not have walked into a couple of times).  Coffee in hand, black summer dress and those beach colors on the wall, I just had to!

I kept the layout pretty simple by starting out with a new favorite paper collection by Echo Park called COFFEE COLLECTION that I purchased from A Cherry on Top over the holidays.  I used the Teal/Pink and the Light Blue and used the tear technique, separating the colors.

I have to tell you, when I ordered this paper I also ordered these self closing tweezers and if you don't have them I highly suggest you get them!  They are so much easier than regular tweezers, especially if you have issues with your fingers/hands, like arthritis.

Over the Holidays there were a lot of sales and I lost my mind and bought a LOT of stuff this year! I mean who can resist a S-A-L-E, right?  One place that was having an awesome Cyber Monday sale was the Hip Kit Club .  Prior to the holidays I had just discovered them and fell in love with their stuff! So I did a lot of ordering and I used quite a bit from that order on this layout.  I used Pink Paislee's TURN THE PAGE card making paper to back my photo. The JUNE Hip Kit Club Project Life cards, lots of Pink Fresh Studios - INDIGO HILLS 2 ephemera and some Pink Fresh Studios exclusive to the Hip Kit Club ephemera pack that had lots of shiny gold tones to it.  I love me some sparkle what can I say.  I also used Pink Fresh Studios' - BE YOU pack.  The Kit I ordered was packed full of awesomeness!

OH SNAP!
Another on of my all time fav places to order from is Scrappin Happy Studios.
One reason?  She is a small business owner that takes pride in her work, does amazing work and has great customer service! I mean who doesn't like to support small businesses!  Her shop on Etsy is packed full of awesome Epoxy Flairs with the cutest sayings and colors to special holidays!  The other reason I love her shop?  SHE DOES CUSTOM ORDERS!! (I will be posting the pic of the custom order that I placed with her on my IG feed when I get it done).  On this layout,  I used her epoxy flair called OH SNAP ( love it)!

As far as mixed media goes, the only think I used was Ranger's Perfect Pearls Mists (sunflower sparkle).  I am OBSESSED with this color mist!  The shimmery sparkle is to die for and it dries quick and goes with just about everything!  I covered up my photo and ephemera and spritzed on the empty space prior to putting down my title.

I added some Washi tape and lastly,
I used Dear Lizzy Thickers (151) for the title.
These are so funky and I love the gold tones to it!
It went perfect with this layout!

I always like to throw in a Selfie Sunday Challenge a couple of times a month, along with some other challenges so come on over and join our FB group or follow us on IG (this group is not just for Newbies, we welcome everyone, hoping that the more advanced scrapbookers and card makers can give us some pro tips and challenge us as well).  I started the FB group so that anyone can join and post your creations no matter what product(s) you use.

Thanks for following my blog and hope to see you join in on some of the fun we have and learn new stuff!
Happy Scraping!
