Art Journal - Her Spirit Flows like Stardust

Hey guys I'm up on the Blogger with another art journaling page as part of the Design Team for KCS Designs by Kim.  Click on the link to her Etsy shop so you can take a look at all of her amazing printable images and backgrounds.

Today I am playing with the HIPPIE DAZE clip art collection.  These hippie chics are so awesome and the colors she used for them, yes please!  I paired it with her Word Snippest: SHE IS collection.

I started with the background using a brayer with lots of distressed oxides in: BROKEN CHINA, CANDIED APPLE, CRACKED PISTACHIO, GROUND ESPRESSO, PEACOCK FEATHERS, SALVAGED PATINA, SPICED MARMALADE.  I came in with my soft brushes and added the same colors on top...I loved how it turned out!
I then jumped into my stash and grabbed a stamp set from Whimsy Stamps called FANTABULOUS and stamped the background using each word in that set.  I used Versifine Clair NOCTURNE to stamp them...I mean how fun are these stamps!

After stamping I reached into a tiny book I had of papers and PET tape, I got off of Amazon, with colors that matched this Hippie Chic perfectly!  I used the two PET pieces that had the brown curved branches with flowers and cut one in half and used one on each side for a bit of balance.  I then took the papers from that pack and cut these super cool flowers that I was gifted from a friend, I mean talk about hippie flowers, they remind me of the florals from the 60's.  I adhered a couple of different once together to create some dimension.

I set them aside and went to work on my stenciling using STAMPERS ANONYMOUS - HOCS POCUS stencil. Since the quote says HER SPIRIT FLOWS LIKE STARDUST, I thought this stencil worked fabulously!  I used some white modeling paste with the stencil and with me doing it on top of the distressed oxides it reacted a bit with the modeling paste, ever so slightly and turned the stars the same color as the background ink which was super cool to watch!

While letting that dry, I fussy cut the Hippie Chic and adhered her to some foam tape to give her some dimension.  I then placed the flowers, the butterflies, that I punched using a butterfly punch, and the same papers I cut for the flowers and placed everything where I wanted and adhered it down.

It was missing a bit of something so I added the thread to pull out that teal color in her and balance the page.  I am not mad at it!

I absolutely love these two collections from KCS Designs by Kim.  I hope I inspired you to get into your crafty space and get a bit messy today.  Thanks for hanging out with me!

Stay Crafty,
Kimberly

Bean Me Up - Coffee card

Hello, Wowsa, time just seems to fly by these days.  Summer is here and I am so excited to be invited back as a guest designer this month!  I hope I’m able to inspire you to get into your crafty space and make a card for someone special.

Today I’m starting with this pun card…Bean me up!  There has been a bit of an Alien spike in the news so I thought I would embrace it, lol.  Do I believe, nah, but if there is I’m sure they are flying by laughing at us!

I started out with a brown 80lb card stock for my base.  I used a white card stock and blended some distressed inks in Faded Jeans, Black Soot and Weather Wood and added some white acrylic paint splatters.

I hopped into my stash and used a stamp from one of our Super Sponsors, Crackerbox Stamps. I learned about them through one of the hops! They have some really great stamp sets.  This one is called COFFEE 1.

I used the coffee beans from the stamp set, stamping them on a gold foil card stock with some VERSAMARK watermark stamp, used my HERO embossing powder in Black and my WOW clear embossing powder.

I reached into my stamps and dies and pulled out a favorite of mine from AlteNew called FRIENDS FOREVER (retired).  This stamp set has gotten a lot of love from me.  I used the to go cup from the set and then ink blended it in distressed oxide, UNCHARTED MARINER.  I also used some Copic Markers (E23, E25, E13), I wasn’t all the way thrilled with the clear heat embossing on the beans so I used some glossy accents on them as well and I am not mad at it!

I set that aside and printed out this fun spaceship a crafty friend sent me and fussy cut it out.  How cute is that!  I also printed out the sentiment BEAN ME UP on some whit card stock and die cut the sleeve to the cup out and used the Copic markers to blend it and stamped a couple of beans on it with the glossy accents.  I popped the spaceship and the lid to the to go cup up on foam tape, added some white accents from a white jelly pen and called it done.

I do love the pun in this card, it makes for a cute coffee card to send out for any occasion.

I hope I inspired you to get into your crafty space and make a card and put a smile on someone’s face today.

Stay crafty,

Kimberly B.

Happy St. Patty's Day!

Hey guys, I'm up on the Blogger with a card for this weeks Pammies Inky Pinkies Challenge (#2607) where anything goes! This week I'm into St. Patty's cards.

I started with a piece of water color textured paper cut 1/8" smaller than an A2 size.  I reached into my stencils and grabbed a sun stencil from Shadnee over on Etsy.  I used some Muster seed distress oxide through the stencil.

I then reached into my Doodlebug OVER THE RAINBOW collection and grabbed this cut gnome tree house and the gnome.  I adhered the tree house down and I used a few scraps for the back of the gnome to give him a bit of dimension but not as big as the sentiment.

Speaking of sentiments, I went into my PAGES on my Mac and created both the HAPPY ST. PATTY'S DAY! and the MAY YOUR PATH ALWAYS LEAD HOME and put them both in frames and changed the ink to green to match the theme.

I added the bling and I am done!  So easy and I think it is so cute...I just love gnomes!  Do you make St. Patty's Day cards?

Thanks for hacking out with me today and don't forget to head over to Pammies Inky Pinkies and check out all the inspiration and fun challenges.

I hope I inspired you to put a smile on someone's face by making and sending a card.

Stay crafty

Double Trouble Challenge #202

Hey guys, I'm up on Blogger sharing my Autumn Blessings card I made for October's Double Trouble Challenge #202.  Here is a link to their blog and challenge if you want to join in or just get some fun inspiration.  I also entered this into the Pearly Sparkles Challenge #112.  Here is a link to their special challenge as well.  So many challenges that I love, get's those creative juices flowing!

Here is what Thing 1 has challenged us to this week:

I also took Thing 3  up on her twist this month -
She says, "Fall colors are beautiful, but the pumpkins are my favorite. Hey, what happens when you drop a pumpkin? It goes Squash. Trouble Maker will tell me to stop bean corny.  So let's keep calm and carrot on and don't turnip your nose at me... I yam who I yam. My optional twist is to include any autumn fruit or veggie in your project."  So of course  I chose Pumpkins!

I started off with an A2 110# card base and inked it with some Distressed oxides in MUSTARD SEED, CARVED PUMPKIN, GROUND ESPRESSO, FOREST MOSS and BUNDLED SAGE.

After I inked the card base I took a die set of Fall leaves and sticks I had and made a stencil (if you ever want to do a stenciled background and don't have a stencil pull out those dies, cut them with a thicker card stock and BAM! instant stencil).  I used those same Distressed Oxides I inked the background to ink the leaves.  I then added some acrylic paint in brown and some Craft Twinkles (from DecoArt) in gold and mixed them ...this stuff is gold (no pun intended) but seriously it's the first time I'm using it and I loved it.

I then got out my pumpkin dies I purchased from Amazon, die cut them using 110# card stock in white and inked those up along with some of those Fall leaves that I cut to make the stencil...that is a set from the Signature Collection by Sara Davies called AUTUMN MORNING.

I set those aside and pulled out my new La La Land Crafts (their stuff is awesome) clear stamps called CHINCHILLIN', stamped that cute chinchilla and used my Copic Markers on him (E11, E13, E21, E23, E27, and E30).

I adhered all of it together on the card base and then grabbed the sentiment from the Signature Collection by Sara Davies and stamped AUTUMN BLESSINGS.

Well that wraps it up for this challenge.  Thanks for hanging out with me today.  Don't forget to head over to the Double Trouble Paper Crafting blog and check out all the fun!

have a crafty day!

Double Trouble Paper Crafting - Challenge 192 (FUN IN THE SUN)

Hey guys, I'm here doing a fun in the sun challenge from the gals over at Double Trouble Paper Crafting.  This is for June's Challenge #192, if you want to join in on the fun here is a link to their site.

This month's challenge from Thing 1 (such the Trouble Maker) is: "Sun Fun" and must include the following (but adding more is ok too)...

  1. Three (3) torn edges
  2. Two (2) colors
  3. (1) die cut, ephemera or punched item
I also went for Thing 2, who always Double Dares you with her sketches and a  TWIST from Thing 3 (she's so Twisted),  who wanted us to add a flip flop!  I mean what is summer with out flip flops?

I started out with some "hand made" white paper, I got this from Hobby Lobby and LOVE it...it's almost like a cotton paper that tears amazingly and blends easily with brushes.  I tore three strips on a slight angle and ink blended them with Squeezed lemonade, Salvaged Patina and Wild Honey (that takes care of the 2 colors plus I added one).

I then cut some "sand" colored card stock down to a A2 card size and adhered the inked strips to it leaving some of the card stock peeking through to give it a little bit of a beachy feel.  I reached into my stash of Jolee's and grabbed 2 beach themed packs of 3D stickers and created a beach vibe scene and then added the die cut phrase "FUN IN THE SUN".

This was a super fun card to make, I have really been enjoying ink blending lately and the summer colors just make me so happy!

Thanks for hanging out with me for this Challenge.

Coffee Loving Papercrafters Caffeinated Christmas Card Challenge #42

Hey guys, I'm up on the blog doing Challenge #42 for the Caffeinated Christmas Card Challenge.  If you want to join in here is the link!

I started out with 110lb white paper (oh how I will miss those awesome SALES at Joann's), stamped this cute Sloth stamp, from Brass and Bliss,  (ALL YOU NEED IS COFFEE) I would link it but it was so cute it sold out...and used my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers to color it and then die cut it out.

I then took the same 110# white paper and inked it in some Vicki Boutin (color wheel, red) and some Tim Holtz Distressed Oxide (in Pine Needles).  I then stamped this awesome coffee to go cup stamp from AlteNew called Friends Forever, one of my fav coffee stamps!  I made sure to stamp it so that the colors were where I wanted them.  I used my Spectrum Noir to color in the lid.

I grabbed my new Whimsy BURST stamp (I LOVE THIS STAMP) to stamp on another 110# white paper (no wonder I go through so much white paper)!  I used the same 2 colors, the red from the color wheel, and the Pine Needles from Tim Holtz, to stamp on the different sides of that burst stamp to give it some added dimension and color and I do love how it turned out.

I reached into my stash and pulled out the sticker that says HAPPY HOLIDAYS and the 2 Christmas foliage stickers to put on either side of the cup.  I also found that cute Christmas hat to add to the Sloth.  I adhered the "Burst" panel on some Christmas red metallic card stock, added the coffee cup and then popped up that Sloth on some foam adhesive and called it done.  Super easy card and I was able to use up some older stash!

I am not mad at it!  Thanks so much for stopping by and hanging out and don't forget to hop over to the Challenge and join in!

Have a crafty day!

Autumn Blessings

Hey everyone, I'm up on the blog for Day 8 of the Coffee Lovers Blog hop and today I have a very Fall vibes card I put together.

I used a white A2 Card base and used some Wild Honey and Carved Pumpkin on it to ink distress the background.  I used my favorite stamp and die set from AlteNew to stamp and die cut the to go cup.  I actually die cut this and stamped it afterwards...I usually don't do that but it turned out great!

I have this awesome leaf die and stamp set that came with a mini embossing folder, called Autumn Morning.  I die cut the leaves and inked them with Carved Pumkin and Gathered Twigs and I used the embossing folder to emboss the bottom 2" strip under the sentiment and the sleeve for the cup.

I started placing my leaves where I wanted them and tuck a few under the to go cup and adhered it all down.  I backed the 2" strip with a scrap piece from the JAVA GOOD TIME paper pad I had left and popped it up on foam tape.

I added that cute little fox from Doodlebug (Doodlepop) isn't he adorable?  I added a few sequins and then stamped the sentiment, that came with the die set, inked it as well and adhered it to the card.  This card just screams FALL to me!

If you are still interested in getting in on the hop, today is the last day so hurry!  Here is the link.

Thanks for stopping by,

Kimberly

Books Are Like Friends Card

Hi guys, I'm here doing another card for the Coffee Lovers Fall/Winter Blog hop.  Here is a link to check out all of the amazing inspiration that is going on over there and all the info on how to join in if you want too!

I got my color and inspiration from the coffee cup that has been sitting in my stash for 3 years!

I started off with  blending some Broken China distressed Oxide on a card base.  I used one of my die cuts that had a great border on it and I inked that in the same color oxide.  I grabbed my heart coffee stencil from Miss Ink Stamps  called Latte Love and used Hickory Smoke distressed oxide on it.

I popped the coffee cup up on some foam tape and then die cut the spoon (you can see the handle of it sticking out of the cup) and the steam and adhered it all down.

I have a book stamp that I stamped on 80lb card stock and colored it in using my Spectrum Noir markers (I'm still trying to get the hang of shading). and adhered that down and lastly I stamped the sentiment on a scrap piece of paper (because don't we all have scraps laying around so why not use them up).

Lastly, I used some distressed oxide on it as well and adhered it down and I was done!  I love the sentiment and it was such a quick and easy card and BONUS, I used up that coffee cup that was in my stash for so long!

I hope to see you all over at the hop!

Thanks for stopping by,

Kimberly

Hey guys, I'm up on my blog again with another card I made for day 5 of the Coffee Lovers Fall/Winter Blog Hop 2024.  Here is a link to the hop if you want to participate, and here is a link to the directions on how to link up to the hop just in case you need a little help with that (I know the first year I was just lost).

The card I made definitely has a lot of Fall vibes to it.  I am loving the stamp I got from Miss Ink Stamps, and they happen to be one of the SUPER SPONSORS of this blog hop!

After stamping the image, I colored it in using my Spectrum Noir markers, I am still learning but I'm not mad at it.  After I finished coloring and shading I let it dry and added some Wild Honey and Gathered Twigs Distressed Oxides to the background.

I added some half pearls and then adhered it to the JAVA GOOD TIME 6x6 paper pad from Brass and Bliss (this is starting to become one of my fav 6x6 paper pads!

Well that wraps it up for me today, I hope to see you hopping along with the Coffee Lovers Fall/Winter Blog Hop 2024!

Hey guys, I'm up on my blog on day 5 of the  Coffee Lovers FALL/WINTER Blog Hop 2024 and a new card.  This hop is so fun and has been going for 10 YEARS!!  There are all kinds of sponsors with lots of prizes, so I hope you join in on the fun!

Today I made a card using a flower stamp and die set from Close To My Heart (I was so sad to see them close their doors) and colored it in with my Spectrum Noir markers.

I embossed the cup with a 3D Embossing folders, I cut the sleeve and lid out of paper from the JAVA GOOD TIME from Brass and Bliss and popped them up on foam tape.

I blended the background with WILD HONEY and SQUEEZED LEMONADE distressed oxides. I also stamped the sentiment using a great coffee stamp set from Brass and Bliss called LETS MEET FOR COFFEE (a must have if you are into coffee loving cards)  I added some enamel dots that have been in my stash for a LONG time (love when I can use old stash up) and then I distressed the edges of the card, adhered it to black card stock and that's it.  Easy peasy!

Water color background and New Mermaid Flairs!

Hey guys, I wanted to share a layout I did using Scrappin Happy Studio's new Mermaid Flairs!  These are so cute and the colors are amazing!  Jenny (the owner of the shop) makes all of her flairs by hand and does special orders so if you are working on a layout or a card and want that extra pop or personalization for that special someone...just ask and she would be happy to do it!

Be sure to check out her site on Black Friday 2019 for amazing 50% OFF her ENTIRE store including her newest collections!
↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓

Now, on to the layout!  I started with some Oxide inks, using some water and the paint brush technique to bring this water color background to life.  I'm not going to lie, I've tried this several times and most of them turned out to be disasters! I really had to take my time and really work with the water and colors to get the look I was going for.

After using clear Gesso on my white card stock paper and let completely dry, I dabbed the inks on to wax paper, - a cheap trick of mine that I use for mixed media stuff and just regular glueing down stuff.  Dollar store score! The clean up is easy and you can use one piece several times depending on how messy you are!  I applied the ink to the wax paper (one color at a time) I spritz with water and started dipping my paint brush and adding small amounts of both water and paint to the paper.  Once I got one color the way I wanted it I moved on to the other colors.  Using this technique you have to be careful not to move the paper around too much or you will get a drip effect which isn't what I was going for.

I ended up stamping the background with a "fishing net" using Pearl White powder and Versacolor White Pigment ink, it's very faint but in the right light you can see it and it looks amazing.  I pulled all of the ephemera items I wanted to use, added some wood veneer sea life, some mermaid stickers (dollar store score) and some cut aparts from one of my pages in a paper pad and stamped and fussy cut some little mermaids.  Added my picture (backing it with velum paper that I inked in a sea foam blue and added some Nuvo drops and making sure I left room at the bottom for journaling and BAM! The finished layout!

I hope you like the layout and the cute Mermaid Collection from Scrappin Happy Studios!  Don't forget to click HERE for the chance to win $50 (Open on Wednesday 11/27/2019 ONLY so hurry)
